“The marks of life and work appear once again in the series Quase aqui, which he has been producing since 2011 and uses wooden bases used as tables in his studio. Worn, with cuts, grooves and incisions due to use, these surfaces receive a white rectangle of oil paint at their center, which seems to have an ineffable constitution. It is not possible to register a trace of the hand or gesture. In contrast to the marked surroundings, the pristine white form seems to question the nature of the painting, whether made of work or illusion.”
